Wineries – and Pisco Sour

We stayed in the Maipu Valley, a wine growing district not far from Santiago. The quirky hotel appeared vintage style but, more likely, was just vintage. Here we slept in huge wine barrels and rapidly developed a taste for pisco sour.Surprisingly, the red wine recommended by the waiter at dinner was so ‘disappointing’ that, on the second evening, a bottle from the local supermarket was substituted.

The highlight was the celebration of Sarah and Alan’s twelfth wedding anniversary! After which we needed a rest before our next adventure in Chile’s lake district.
